AI Assistant

Every dashboard page has a small assistant launcher in the corner (the robot icon). Click it to open the d2o Assistant panel and ask a question in plain language — it stays open as you navigate, and Enter sends your message.

What it can answer

The assistant answers two kinds of questions:

  • How the platform works. Questions about concepts, guides, and CLI usage are answered from the official documentation, with links to the pages it drew from shown under the answer.
  • Your own account data. Questions like “how much bandwidth has shop used this month?” or “is my production environment near a limit?” are answered by looking up your organizations, bandwidth and limit usage, projects, resources, and recent deployments — live, at the moment you ask. While it’s doing this, a small note appears naming the lookup in progress.

The assistant only sees what you can see: it runs every lookup as you, through the same permission checks as the rest of the platform, so it can never show you data from an organization you don’t belong to. It is read-only — it cannot deploy, scale, restart, edit secrets, or change anything else. If you ask it to make a change, it explains where in the dashboard to do it yourself.

If it can’t answer confidently from the documentation, it says so rather than guessing at steps, flags, or limits that don’t exist.

Rate limit

The assistant is rate-limited per user — see API rate limits for the number. Sending messages faster than that gets a “sending messages too quickly” notice in the panel; wait a moment and try again.

If the assistant says it’s not enabled

The assistant is optional per platform installation. If whoever operates yours hasn’t turned it on, the launcher still appears, but every message gets the same reply: “The AI assistant is not enabled on this deployment.” (Calling the API directly, this is a 503 response with the code ASSISTANT_DISABLED.) There’s nothing to fix on your end — ask whoever operates your platform installation if you’d like it enabled.
